There are generally four systems to connect solar technologies in Panama:

 

  1. Grid-Tied System: This is the most common and simplest system, where solar panels are connected directly to the electrical grid. Any excess power generated by the solar panels is sent back to the grid, and homeowners or businesses can receive credits for the excess energy they produce.
     

  2. Grid-Tied System with Battery Backup: In this system, solar panels are connected to both the electrical grid and a battery bank. Excess energy is stored in the batteries for later use, and the batteries can also provide backup power in the event of a power outage. 
     

  3. Off-Grid System: An off-grid system is not connected to the electrical grid at all. Instead, solar panels are connected to a battery bank and an inverter, which converts the DC power generated by the panels into usable AC power. This type of system is commonly used in remote areas where it is difficult or expensive to connect to the grid.
     

  4. Hybrid System: A hybrid system combines solar panels with another source of energy, such as wind turbines or a generator. This allows for more consistent power generation, even when weather conditions are not ideal for solar energy.

  1. Initial Consult. We begin with a virtual or on-site visit. During the visit we will assess the different factors to evaluate the viability and dimensions of the system. This may include an inspection of the structure of the roof, its inclination, the solar resource available on-site, and assessing any surrounding structures or trees.
     

  2. Design and Engineering. Based on the consultation, we will design a system that maximizes the surface area of the roof, and the solar resource available. Nova Energy’s priority is for the user to have economic savings via the most efficient system. 
     

  3. Estimates. We will provide a proposal along with any storage requirements based on your needs. 
     

  4. Permits. Upon approval of the proposal, we will acquire all permits with the corresponding institutions as required.
     

  5. Installation and connection. We will manage the complete installation process including the connection of service.
     

  6. Maintenance and monitoring. We offer several options for maintenance, repairs and monitoring the performance of the system. 

Solar panels work by capturing energy from the sun's rays through photovoltaic cells. When sunlight hits these cells, it causes electrons to be released, generating an electrical current. This current is then converted into usable electricity that can power homes and businesses. 

 

Solar panels work best in direct sunlight and can produce energy even on cloudy days. These can be installed on the roof of buildings and are dimensioned to generate energy at a lower cost than the distribution company offers.
